Introduction and paragraph number 2.....using the TS, F, O, O, F, O, O, CS format.

Food stamps are a way for those who are down on their luck to receive money from the government to purchase food for a period of time.  However, some people abuse this handout.  In fact, some people even sell their food stamps for cash to spend on drugs or other vices.  The way to solve this problem is to monitor food stamps closely, not allow them spent on junk foods, and only let them be available to those who have been fingerprinted and drug tested.
Food stamps should be monitored closely.   For example, according to Sam Hananel from the Associated Press, “Food-stamp fraud costs taxpayers about $750 million a year.”  This shows that tax payers are losing millions of dollars a year due to those who abuse their privileges.   So, the food stamp program should be monitored closely.   In addition, Mr. Hananel goes on to report that “about 850,000 people were investigated for possible food-stamp fraud. About 2,000 stores were sanctioned for illegal conduct, and 1,200 stores were permanently removed from the food-stamp program.”  It’s clear that food stamp fraud is very widespread.  Closer monitoring procedures are needed to curb food stamp abuse.  If taxpayers monitor the food stamp program more closely, they might be able to eliminate these types of abuses.
