Introduction and paragraph number 2.....using the TS, F, O, O, F, O, O, CS format.

Food stamps are a way for those who are down on their luck to receive money from the government to purchase food for a period of time.  However, some people abuse this handout.  In fact, some people even sell their food stamps for cash to spend on drugs or other vices.  The way to solve this problem is to monitor food stamps closely, not allow them spent on junk foods, and only let them be available to those who have been fingerprinted and drug tested.
Food stamps should be monitored closely.   For example, according to Sam Hananel from the Associated Press, “Food-stamp fraud costs taxpayers about $750 million a year.”  This shows that tax payers are losing millions of dollars a year due to those who abuse their privileges.   So, the food stamp program should be monitored closely.   In addition, Mr. Hananel goes on to report that “about 850,000 people were investigated for possible food-stamp fraud. About 2,000 stores were sanctioned for illegal conduct, and 1,200 stores were permanently removed from the food-stamp program.”  It’s clear that food stamp fraud is very widespread.  Closer monitoring procedures are needed to curb food stamp abuse.  If taxpayers monitor the food stamp program more closely, they might be able to eliminate these types of abuses.

Sample Paragraph Using a Source.

TS:  The education cuts in Arizona will hurt students and teachers.
F:  For example, according to Mary Jo Pitzl, the author of “Arizona Lawmakers Pass Budget with Deep Education Cuts” from the June 20th, 2012 edition of the Arizona Republic, “universities are targeted to lose 26 percent of their state funding; K-12 education faces reductions of about 7 percent.”
O:  This shows that students, especially college students, will suffer under the new budget since 26% of their funding was cut.
O:  This also shows that there won’t be much money for scholarships or salaries.
F:  In addition, according to Ms. Pitzl, “Jennifer Loredo a lobbyist for the Arizona Education Association said the $242 million in cuts to K-12 will force layoffs.”
