Final Project, English 081

Rhetorical Knowledge

• Focus on a purpose

Define:

Focusing on a purpose means to stay on track in writing. It means to be on topic all the time.

Explain:

I know how to focus on a purpose, and I did so in my narrative essay. The job of my narrative, or its purpose, was to tell about the chocolate factory I worked in and what my job was like. In the first paragraph, I wrote, “I worked 8 hours a day, separating good from bad chocolate.” In my third paragraph, I wrote, “a chocolate factory smells nice, but don’t be fooled. It is really gross.” In my last paragraph I wrote, “That’s why you shouldn’t work in a chocolate factory.” As you can see, I focused on the same purpose throughout my essay, and that means I can focus on a purpose.
